Must have valid SC Teacher Certificate/ License or be eligible for Certificate/License
Barnwell High School is seeking a certified Art Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Applicants need certification in either 49/49+Advanced Fine Arts (Art); or 50/50+Art.
Art Teacher candidates must be able to perform the following:
- Plan, prepare, and create lesson plans that are reflective of established curriculum and state standards.
- Provide quality instruction based on established curriculum and state standards.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Display a commitment to learning for all students.
- Possess a strong background in basic Art Education, Art Appreciation, Art History and Principles of Artistic Design.
- Ability to implement differentiated instruction and/or instructional strategies that are reflective of best practices.
- Create a positive educational climate for students.
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and professional development as required.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date gradebook via PowerSchool throughout the school year.
- Observe and evaluate student performance.
- Collaborate in grade level and department teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards.
- Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
- Prepare and distribute required reports.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
- establish appropriate ongoing communications with parents and guardians in order to report student performance and progress.
- Ensure that students know how to make connections between arts disciplines, other content areas, and the world.
- Ensure that students understand the context and history of the development of the arts & graphic design.
Strong technical background and technical instruction experience preferred.
