Job Description: Math Coach/Math Interventionist (Elementary School)

Location: Barnwell Elementary School

Contract: 190 days, Full-time position 

School Year: 2025-2026

Reports to: Principal

 

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Math Coach/Math Interventionist to join our elementary school team. This dual-role position will focus on supporting student achievement in mathematics through coaching and intervention, while also providing targeted assistance to students who need additional academic support. The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers, students, and families to foster a positive learning environment and improve student outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Math Coach:

• Support classroom teachers in the development and implementation of effective math instruction.
• Model best practices in math instruction and provide on-the-job coaching to teachers.
• Conduct professional development sessions to build teacher capacity in delivering high-quality math instruction.
• Analyze student data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address gaps in learning.
• Assist teachers in differentiating math instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
• Work with grade-level teams to design and implement math interventions and enrichment activities.

Interventionist:

• Provide small-group and individualized interventions for students struggling with math concepts.
• Develop and implement intervention plans based on student assessment data.
• Collaborate with teachers to track student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
• Use research-based strategies to help students build foundational math skills and improve their academic performance.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and intervention outcomes.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and strategies for home support.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid teaching certification (or appropriate certification for the state).
• Experience in teaching or coaching elementary school math is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of math curriculum, instructional strategies, and intervention techniques.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students and teachers to achieve their best.

Compensation:

• Compensation will be based on the BCSD approved salary schedule for classroom teachers.
