Certified Music Teacher 2024-2025

Location: Kelly Edwards Elementary School

Contract: 190 days

School Year: 2024-2025

Reports to: Principal

 

Certification:

Must have valid SC Teacher Certificate/License or anticipate Certificate/License prior to the 2024-2025 school year in General Music or Choral Music. Acceptable certification codes include: 49; 51; 52; 53; 54; 54+; 52; 52+; 56; 56+.

Position is open until filled.

 

Kelly Edwards Elementary School is seeking an enthusiastic Elementary General/Choral Music Teacher. Candidates should have experience in general music and choral music.  Experience in instrumental music is also preferred. The courses taught would be for all students 1st - 5th grades. The teacher will also have responsibility for organization and execution of no less than four concerts or performances per year.

• Ability to instruct general music aligned to South Carolina State Standards.
• Capacity to develop a choral program to include vocal performance.
• Ability to prepare students for successful participation in various choral programs.
• Strong communication and relationship building skills.
• Enthusiasm and expertise to inspire and challenge students. 
• High level of personal organization and planning.
• Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
• Ability to choose and access appropriate musical selections.
• Ability to positively contribute to an environment that responds to students’ academic, social, emotional, behavioral and physical needs. 
• Experience collaborating with colleagues in and across the discipline on curriculum, instruction and assessment.
