JOB SUMMARY

• To assist instructional programs and create a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
• To establish effective rapport with students.
• To motivate pupils to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to ensure a safe and orderly environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB EXPECTATIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains accurate attendance records.
• Maintains other appropriate records and files as needed.
• Performs general record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. attendance logs, activity reports, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or supervisory staff in meeting mandated requirements.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Complies with state laws and district policies and procedures.
• Maintains a safe environment for students.
• Establishes, shares, and maintains standards for pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Anticipates and effectively addresses unforeseen crises and follows Non-violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) procedures.
• Returns teacher assignments for students assigned to the in-school suspension (ISS) classroom without interrupting classroom instruction.
• Assists students by giving them teacher assignments, one at a time.
• Assists students academically by explaining the work as needed.
• Holds students responsible for finishing and correcting all work assigned.
• Compiles student’s work and returns the work promptly to the teachers.
• Assists in constantly monitoring students, by remaining in the ISS classroom with them at all times.
• Keeps the ISS classroom clean and neat.
• Only admits students to the ISS room that have been assigned.
• Maintains confidentiality about the students assigned to ISS.
• Assists the in other areas when no students have been assigned to ISS or as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by administration.
