Substitute Teacher 2023-2024 School Year:


Duties, Responsibilities and Qualifications:

-Must report to the main office of the respective school assigned before reporting to any classroom, during any scheduled planning time, and before leaving any campus at the end of the school day.
-Must follow and implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher.
-Must be able to take accurate attendance records throughout the school day.
-Must be able to monitor student progress on assigned tasks and offer assistance as needed while in the classroom setting by continuously circulating the classroom during designated instructional time.
-Must perform other duties as noted by the regular classroom teacher or assigned by the principal, assistant principal or designee.
-Must enforce all school rules and policies with assistance from school administration.
-Must be flexible and understand that classroom assignments, school assignments and other duties can be changed at any time throughout the school day as needed.
-Must be willing to work with all students and grade levels as needed and/or assigned.
-Must be able to report to an assigned school with limited same day notice.
-Must have a criminal background check completed prior to hiring.
-Must have minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
-Associates Degree or higher preferred.

-Must be available a minimum of 3 days per week.
-Pay will be determined by the Substitute Pay Scale and days worked during a specific pay period.

-Certification as a teacher is preferred; however, a high school diploma from an accredited school will meet the minimum educational requirements.

 

Other Requirments:

-Applicants must be age 21 or older or a college graduate if younger than 21.

-Acceptable references regarding the candidate's ability to do the job.

-Receipt of a satisfactory SLED criminal history check.

-A willingness to be available for substitute work and to respond on short notice.

-The satisfactory completion of a substitute teacher orientation sponsored by the district. 

-Receipt by the district office of a satisfactory test for tuberculosis.
