Position: Certified Horticulture Teacher
Location: Guinyard Butler Middle School
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or above. Must have a valid South Carolina teacher's certification in Agriculture Education or eligibility from a state approved alternative certification pathway.
Job Summary:
- Coordinates with the high school Agriculture Program to develop an instructional pathway that aligns to the needs of the overall program.
- Plans and collaborates as an Agriculture Department to develop a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Leads students in a program that combines hands-on experiences with classroom instruction and leadership development through the Future Farmers of America.
- Utilizes knowledge of animal science, horticulture, and ag mechanics to introduce middle school students to the Agriculture Program.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes at location and time designated.
- Establishes clear objectives for all classroom activities and communicates these objectives to students.
- Utilizes effective classroom management strategies to create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level of the students.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records and abides by district policy.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
