Physical Education Teacher

Contract: 190 days

School Year: 2024-2025

Location: Barnwell Elementary School

Must have valid SC Teacher Certificate/License or anticipate Certificate/License prior to the 2024-2025 school year.

Position will be open until filled. 

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Promote a safe, nurturing, and caring learning environment for all students.
• Institute all physical education activities in a highly organized manner.
• Enforce all school policies and regulations in a consistent and professional manner.
• Submit weekly lesson plans that are state standards based and promote learning for all students.
• Submit detailed long-range plans that encompass required state standards.
• Diversify planned activities throughout the school year in order to give students a wide range of appropriate, standards based experiences.
• Promote student participation in all class activities.
• Maintain gradebook and attendance records via PowerSchool daily.
• Implement an approved classroom management plan that clearly communicates rules, consequences, and rewards to students and parents.
• Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and field areas to insure the over-all safety of students.
• Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program.
• Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress frequently.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
• SC Physical Education teaching certificate required.
